STEP 2 - Book Your Pool Training & Complete Your Ocean Dives
Once you have completed your E Learning program you are then ready to take the next step and book your place to complete your dive course.
There are a few ways to complete your PADI Open Water Course, from day trips to the Great Barrier Reef out of Cairns to liveabord trips on our fabuolus vessel Ocean Quest. The Liveabord learn to dive courses are by far the most popular.
Currently the only day we start completion of eLearning Courses are Fridays.
Option 1: 4 Day 2 Night PADI Open Water Course
This is by far the most popular option. Here your course is broken down into two components – 1 day of pool training at our 5 star PADI Career Development Centre and then 3 days 2 nights on our Liveaboard Vessel Ocean Quest.

Option 2: 3 Day 1 Night PADI Open Water Course
Here again your course is broken down into two components – 1 day of pool training at our 5 star PADI Career Development Centre and then 2 days 1 night on our Liveaboard Vessel Ocean Quest.

Option 2: 3 Day PADI Open Water Course (Day Trips only.)
Here again your course is broken down into two components – 1 day of pool training at our 5 star PADI Career Development Centre and then 2 day trips to the Outer Great Barrier Reef on our vessel Reef Quest.

Please Note: Upon arrival at our training centre in Cairns you will be required to complete a Quick Review Quiz to refresh your knowledge and understanding before you commence your pool training.
Course Requirements:
- Complete Quick Review Quiz
- Ability to swim 200M + Ability to survival float for 10min
- Minimum age is 12 years, with no maximum age
- Dive medical certificate – must be done in accordance with Australian Standard AS4005-1
- E-learner completion confirmation (Important: Please remember to print a copy of your confirmation once completed)
It is a requirement by Queensland Government Law that you complete a compulsory medical assessment to the Australian Standard AS4005-1 (AS4005.1 Medical Questionaire). The cost is $55 - $65 (If completed in Cairns) and this is payable directly to the doctor. Since it is Local Government Regulation, medical certificates obtained in another country may not be valid in Australia unless the certificate states that it has been done in accordance with AS4005.1.
Since some medical conditions may prevent you from participating in diver training program, we recommend that you contact us if you have any concern with your medical condition to avoid disappointment.
If you haven’t already completed your medical we recommend you obtain your dive medical at The Cairns 24 Hour Medical Centre located on the Corner Florence and Grafton Streets, Cairns. The medical centres phone number is 4052 1119 and it is recommended you mention that you are completing your dive course with Deep Sea Divers Den.
